No Fear the Prez is Here

Well, the election is over and if you trust President Obama, we gun owners have nothing to fear. Nothing to fear except banning all handguns, reinstating the “assault weapons” ban, restricting how much and what type of ammunition you may possess, restricting calibers you may possess, requiring you to belong to a duly licensed gun club, requiring all firearms be stored in a locked gun safe (not gun cabinet but a gun safe), allowing police (and/or UN Observers) to enter you home at any time -24 hours a day- to inspect you firearms, storage and ammunition. I hope the House of Representatives can thwart him, but this President seems very fond of Executive Orders to skirt Congress and impose his will on all of us.

So, what can we do? No, joining a militia is not an answer. Short term, if you can, consider buying over/under or side by side shotgun(s), (gun haters don’t like pump actions any more than semi autos), bolt action rifle(s) with blind magazine or single shot rifles like the Ruger Number 1  and Thompson Center line of single shot firearms. If any handguns are allowed, revolvers are most likely to make the cut but anything with “magnum” in the caliber might not be allowed. As an aside, investment in select firearms and related products manufacturers might benefit your bottom line.

Many of Obama’s most admired nations do not allow civilians to own weapons in calibers that are, or were, military calibers; in the U.S. that would include 45/70, 45 Colt, 38 Colt, 45ACP, 9MM, 5.56MM, 7.62x51MM (aka .308 Winchester), 30-06, .50 BMG and a few other calibers that don’t come to mind at the moment. Of course projectiles containing lead are most likely to be prohibited, can’t be shooting lead into the ground (where does lead come from anyway).  You may want to stock up on ammo with copper projectiles, shotgun shells with “unleaded” pellets and if you reload ammunition, components that allow you to load the same.

On the bright side, it should be another year or two of booming sales for firearms and firearm related goods. As always, your thoughts, opinions and comments are most welcome.
